Wool Dryer Balls

The ultimate sustainable choice--renewable, reusable (up to 1,000 loads), biodegradable, and compostable. The balls simply bounce among your items creating plenty of space for the air to circulate, which decreases drying time. The wool fibers brushing against your fabrics give clothes and linens a soft, fluffy feel. And wool dryer balls won’t diminish the absorbency of towels like conventional softeners and dryer sheets do.

If you’re new to using dryer balls, keep an eye on your first load or two, as drying time will be noticeably shorter than you’re used to, and you don’t want to overdry (which causes static).

A note about static - To avoid static, your laundry should retain some humidity at the end of the drying cycle.  Wool dryer balls reduce static by absorbing moisture at the beginning and releasing it as the cycle progresses, elevating the humidity level in the dryer.  You can enhance this effectiveness, especially when drying synthetics, by spritzing the dyer balls with water before tossing them in.  Due to their intensity, the laundry will dry faster than the wool dryer balls.  If you use a moisture sensitive setting, set the sensor on low to keep the dryer from continuing to detect the moisture level of the dryer balls once the clothes have dried.

To elevate the sensory experience, add a splash of our Fresh Linen Laundry Oil to the dryer balls near the end of the cycle.

Biodegradable and compostable (check your local compost rules and regulations)

To use:  Toss all three into the dyer along with wet laundry.  For even faster drying of larger loads, use more wool balls.  If using fragrance oil, remove dryer balls before the load is fully dry, add the amount of oil that suits your scent preference, and return to the dryer, finishing the cycle with 15 minutes on low heat.  

Care instructions:  To keep them working their best, periodically recharge your wool dryer balls (every 100 loads or so) to rehydrate them and remove accumulated lint and fibers.  Place in a mesh bag or just toss them freely in with a few towels or other items on the gentle wash cycle using hot water.  Dry using high heat.  When they've outlived their usefulness, add them to your compost bin (check your local guidelines) or plant them i your garden soil.
